All they need is time...... |
Follow Me Home Animal Rescue welcomes children who want to help with homeless animals. We have volunteer kids from 14 years old and up who help us hold the dogs at adoption events. They talk to people about homeless animals. They show younger children who come up to the dogs how to approach the dog, where and how to pet the dog, and answer their questions. We believe that getting our children involved when they are young will reduce the number of animal abuse cases, the number of animals killed in shelters, and teach children responsibility and compassion towards others as they learn compassion and responsibility towards a family pet. Studies have shown that just holding and petting a family dog or cat lowers blood pressure, releases “good feeling” endorphins, and gives you a sense of, well, love! Have you found a stray? Follow Me Home will be partnering with the Sears Outlet in Fenton. The
Sears Outlet
Store in Fenton along with the
American Red Cross
will be
hosting a Blood Drive to replenish the blood supply that was diminished
due to the recent tornados in our area as well as Joplin MO. We have
been invited to participate in this event to turn it into a true “Life
Saving Event”. We want to put our main focus on finding homes for our
black dogs since they are the least likely to be adopted. We are looking for volunteers and supplies to make this event a success. We will need people to assist in transportation to and from the event as well as assisting in handling the dogs during the event. We will also need to borrow a couple of easy up canopies for shade as well as crates to help keep things under control for the day. If anyone has the ability to assist in other aspects to make this successful please speak up. All ideas are welcome but be prepared to be put in charge of your idea if it’s a good one. Please let us know if you can help. The date for this event will be Labor Day September 5th. 2011.
Please don't feel sorry for our shelter dogs........Adopt one!

Cuba Reaches Out For Help Because we believe that killing an animal in a shelter for lack of space is a choice rather than a necessity, we work with as many kill shelters as we are able. Currently, we are working primarily with a small rural shelter in Cuba, Missouri. This shelter has always had a 99% kill rate, and is provided little to no advertising in their budget. The shelter does not even have a telephone. The chosen method of euthanasia is gas. The Animal Control Officer, Jeff Bouse, has reached out for help to help him save these dogs’ lives. We are the only dedicated no-kill shelter in our community, and since October 2010 when our partnership began, 35 dogs’ lives have been saved! Most have gone on to a new life, while a few remain here while they wait for their forever homes. We are excited about helping Jeff accomplish his goal and see that his wish to save the lives of the dogs in his shelter has finally come true!
